James Dickson joined Horse Player NOW midway through 2010 as our Southern California racing expert, where he has made his mark throughout the years, both as a professional handicapper and lucrative multi-race wagerer.
- Qualifier to the 2011 Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas.

Dickson learned the game under the watchful of long-time Chicago area handicapping legend, the late, great Marty Dermer, who was one of the pioneers in moving handicapping information to the internet with his site, Racingdigest.com. Dermer was the ultimate "value bettor," and those tendencies stuck with Dickson, as he is always looking for a price at every turn.

Dickson was the primary handicapper/writer on the Racingdigest.com site for two years, which focused on the Southern California racing circuit. In that time, he got to know the riders, trainers, horses and varying surfaces inside and out.

When the site was sold in 2008, Dickson took time off from the game to focus on getting his MBA from Northwestern. But you can only stay away for so long, and the Horseplayernow.com format brought him back into the fold.
