  • Plonk has penned more than 300 columns for ESPN.com, the world's leading sports website, since debuting there in 2000. His bylines also have appeared in such notable places as the Associated Press, Foxsports.com, Daily Racing Form, The Blood-Horse, Breederscup.com, NTRA.com and The Horseplayer Magazine, where he was editor from 2004-2008.

  • Lead researcher for major networks NBC Sports and ESPN for more than a hundred national telecasts, providing unique statistics and analysis to such noted sportscasters as Bob Costas, Jack Whitaker, Charlsie Cantey, Tom Hammond, Chris Fowler, Hank Goldberg, Kenny Mayne, Randy Moss, Rece Davis, Suzy Kolber and more. Remains on the NBC Sports Triple Crown team today.

  • Charted thousands of races as official chartcaller for Equibase, calling both Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse events.

  • Respected handicapping/statistical consultant to Keeneland Racecourse, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and Oaklawn Park.

  • Racing industry experience also includes stints as television handicapper for The Racing Network, England's At The Races, and Remington Park, where he also was a public handicapper. He gained mutuels management experience working for Penn National Gaming.

  • Multi-year member of Churchill Downs' official Kentucky Derby Notes Team.

  • In his 20th year as a professional sports writer, having been credentialed to cover Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, major NCAA football and basketball and the College World Series. Has interviewed Heisman Trophy winners, Pro Football Hall of Famers, world heavyweight boxing champions and Kentucky Derby-winning trainers, jockeys and owners.
