Joe Kristufek is a self-proclaimed "horse racing ambassador," currently serving as the racing writer for the Daily Herald newspaper in Chicago, where he has been the area's leading published handicapper for seven of the last 10 seasons. Joe is a member of the National Turf Writers Association.
- Kristufek is Arlington Park's morning-line maker and program comments writer, and is involved in several horse-racing related educational projects within the Chicago horse racing industry. He also does guest television appearances with track analyst Jessica Pacecho over the Arlington airwaves.
- Kristufek's "Pro Player" interview series was one of Horseplayer Magazine's most popular items. He's a member of the official Breeders' Cup notes team and a seasonal contributor to breederscup.com and kentuckyderby.com.
- Hawthorne's popular on-air talent for several years, Kristufek also hosted the track's nightly replay show. Soon there after, he joined The Racing Network out of Philadelphia, where he was employed as an on-air host and content coordinator from 2000-2001.
- Under the umbrella of his company DAK Productions, Inc., Kristufek built Horsin' Around TV (2003-2005), a horse racing magazine show, from scratch. The program aired on Fox Sports Chicago in 2003 and 2004 and on Comcast SportsNet Chicago in 2005, and he served as the program's producer and host.
Kristufek has owned horses with legendary Chicago radio personality Steve Dahl, including "Stevebiscuit" and "Aloha Friday", both of whom were named via Dahl listener contests.
